Parsons, Morton Salt Team For Outback 300
Concord, NC (June 5, 2001) Cary Agajanian, co-owner of Curb-Agajanian
Motorsports announced today that veteran Busch Series driver Phil Parsons
will drive a second C-A Motorsports car sponsored by Morton Salt in the
June
16th Outback Steakhouse 300 at the Kentucky Speedway. Morton Salt will
also
continue as the major associate sponsor on the #43 Quality Farm Stores
Chevrolet driven by Jay Sauter.
"Morton Salt has been a great sponsor for our team and running this second
car at the inaugural Busch Series race at the Kentucky Speedway is our way
of saying 'Thanks' for their continued support," Agajanian added. "Plus,
pairing Morton Salt with a veteran driver like Phil Parsons will make this
team a contender at Kentucky. We were fortunate to get Ken Schrader's pit
crew for this car, so this will be a first-class team. Mike (co-owner Mike
Curb) and I are very appreciative of the Morton Salt support."
"We are thrilled to be able to be the primary sponsor of a second team
with
Curb-Agajanian Motorsports and Phil Parsons," states Jeff Turrick,
Marketing
Manager at Morton Salt. "This is a great opportunity for Morton Salt to
continue its program development and promotional activity in NASCAR."
Parsons is a veteran of sixteen years in Busch Series competition. The
Detroit, Michigan driver has 284 career Busch Series starts with two wins,
six pole awards, and over $2.7 million in career earnings. Parsons has
thirty-eight top five and ninety-six top ten finishes in his Busch Series
career. Parsons also serves as an announcer of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series races on ESPN.
"I really appreciate the opportunity to drive the #97 Morton Salt
Chevrolet
at Kentucky," Parsons commented. "I've known Cary and Gene (#43 Crew Chief
Nead) for a long time and I know that they have a top-notch race team and
outstanding equipment. I'm also looking forward to competing in the
inaugural Busch race at Kentucky Speedway. It should be a great weekend."
The Outback Steakhouse 300 will make seven Busch Series races in 2001
where
Morton Salt will be the primary sponsor of a Curb-Agajanian entry. Morton
Salt was the primary sponsor for the #43 car at the California Speedway on
April 28th. The remaining races for the #43 Morton Salt car will be
Milwaukee (July 1), Chicago (July 14th), Indianapolis (August 4th),
Phoenix
(October 27th), and Homestead (November 10th).
Morton Salt has been America's leading producer of salt for grocery, water
softening, ice control, agricultural and industrial uses since 1848. The
Morton Umbrella Girl has been an enduring icon since she first appeared on
table salt packaging in 1914.
Morton Salt is famous for the slogan "When it Rains, It Pours." For
generations, this statement - and the little girl who made it famous - has
made Morton Salt a familiar sight in many American homes. The idea for
the
little girl and her slogan were the result of Morton's first advertising
campaign in 1911. The agency selected was charged with creating a series
of
ads to run in Good Housekeeping magazine.
